Celebrating 25 Years of the Illinois Artisans Program

The Illinois Artisans Program focuses national attention on the rich heritage of the production of fine arts and crafts produced by Illinois artisans. From the beginning of the program in 1985, the program has featured the work of artisans from all parts of the state.

This special showing at the exhibition hall of the Southern Illinois Artisans Shop features the earliest participating artisans from the program. A wide variety of media from 25 long-time Illinois artisans will be on display.

The Southern Illinois Artisans Shop is located in Whittington, Illinois, just 6 miles north of Benton. Go west from I-57 at Exit 77.

The Illinois Artisans Program markets arts and crafts through other Artisans shops located in the James R. Thompson Center, Chicago; the Museum Store at the Illinois State Museum in Springfield; and the Museum Shop at the Dickson Mounds Museum.
